Vet's Fees (back to top)
Cover up to £1,000 under Bronze, £3,000 under Silver and £5,000 under Gold. (Cover is provided on a per incident basis).
Many insurers limit payments for ongoing conditions to the first 12 months only. We will continue to cover conditions without a time limit and, up to the policy limit, subject to cover remaining in force.

Early Death (back to top)
If your pet dies as a result of an accident, or from injury or illness. We cover up to £250 on Silver and £750 on Gold policies.
This section does not apply in the case of Dogs that are 9 or more years old and cats that are 11 or more years old.

Advertising/Reward (back to top)
If your pet is lost or stolen, we shall pay for local advertising and offer a reward.
(Cover is up to £250 on Silver and £750 on Gold)

Theft or Straying (back to top)
If your pet is not recovered in spite of the advertising and reward, we shall reimburse the purchase price up to £250 on Silver and £750 on Gold.

Third Party Liability (back to top)
If your pet causes damage or injury to a third party, and you are legally liable, you are protected from claims up to £1,000,000, including legal costs. (Not applicable if you are already covered by your household policy)

Accidental Damage (back to top)
If your pet causes damage, to a third party, for which you are not legally liable but which you feel a moral obligation to pay for, we shall pay up to £500 (Excess - £100 each claim)*.

Boarding Kennel Fees (back to top)
If you have to go into hospital for more than four days and are obliged to put your pet into a boarding kennel/cattery, we shall pay up to £500 on Silver and £1,500 on Gold policies*.

Holiday Cancellation Costs (back to top)
If your pet requires emergency surgery within 7 days prior to your departure, we shall reimburse holiday cancellation costs up to £500 on Silver and £3,000 on Gold policies*.

Healthcare away from Home (back to top)
If you and your pet are away from home and your pet needs urgent veterinary care, you may not know who to turn to. We offer access to a helpline which will identify the nearest vet for you.

Bereavement Counselling (back to top)
An understanding, confidential and professional service enabling you to talk for as long as you need about the death or illness of your pet. Help and advice to address the symptoms brought about by bereavement - Available 24hours a day, 365 days a year.

Pet Legal (back to top)
Lawyers are available to provide advice and explain legal issues in plain English and in a friendly and helpful way, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Pet Minders (back to top)
This enables you to locate a registered Pet Minder (on a national basis) for either a few minutes or indeed weeks in order to look after your pet whilst you are away.

Important Points

(please refer to the policy book for complete terms and conditions)

  • The excess amounts shown against the cover are the amounts which you personally will be asked to pay in respect of each claim.

  • Veterinary fees which are not covered include the costs of routine examinations, vaccinations, whelping, kittening, castration, spaying and prescription drugs for preventative treatment.

  • Cats and Dogs must be at least 8 weeks old to qualify for RIAS Pet Insurance.

  • Cover for illness starts 10 days after the inception date of the policy.

  • Third party insurance applies only if you are not already covered by your household policy, it excludes injury to your family, household, employees or their property.

  • Insurance cover is available in the United Kingdom (including Northern Ireland), Isle of Man and Channel Islands only.

  • Your insurance certificate cannot be transferred to another pet.

  • A copy of the policy is available for inspection on request.
